USWNT: 23-Player Roster Set for Portugal

USWNT head coach Tom Sermanni has named 23 players to the 2013 Algarve Cup roster. The team will depart on February 25th and will face Iceland on March 6th. On March 8th the United States will play China before heading to Lagos on March 11th to face former head coach Pia Sundhage as they take on Sweden.

Roster Notes:

  • Hope Solo has been left off due to a wrist injury. She is expected to have surgery in the coming weeks and hopes to be ready for the NWSL season.
  • Lindsey Horan has received her first US call-up. Horan is only 18 years old and currently plays with PSG in France.
  • Rachel Buehler will likely receive her 100th cap during the tournament.
  • Megan Rapinoe, Tobin Heath, and Lindsey Horan will not join the team until March 3rd due to club commitments.

For the first time, all 4 US group-stage matches will be broadcasted live for fans. It will be in a Pay-Per View format, with major US cable and satellite providers participating. Each match will cost $14.95.
